A Day at the Farm

Today was Baby Lena's first time on a farm. She got to meet lots of new animals today. First she met this cute little baby chick. Even though her eyes are closed, she looks like she is enjoying herself!

Then she got to meet this cute, fuzzy, little kitten. She has two kitties at home, but they are all grown up, so this was her first time seeing a baby kitten.

Then we went outside and she got to meet Mr. Goat. Now that I think about it, I think it's Mrs. Goat. (The long beard is very deceiving!)

Then she got to help Daddy feed treats to this horse. Daddy's hair is messy because it was a super windy day.

Daddy had fun showing Lena around the barn.

Aunt Hilary was visiting so she got to come too.

Thanks so much to Al and Claudia for inviting us to their beautiful farm. We had so much fun and can't wait to come over again sometime!

Mom's Birthday

Today was Mom's birthday. Grandma Sheryl came up to spend the day with us. We went to church and then we went out to eat in Hastings. Mexican. . . yummy! Then later Grandma Sheryl got some birthday cake and champagne. What a lovely day.

Thanks for everything, Grandma Sheryl!

No pics today; the camera batteries were dead. :(

Lena's First Baseball Game

Today Lena went to her first baseball game. It was a high school game, Thornapple Kellogg (our home team) vs. Byron Center. Nick from our church played first base. He had hit a home run the day before.

I don't think TK won this game, but we sure did enjoy getting out and enjoying the nice day by taking in a ball game.

A Blue Day

This is an outfit Aunt Hilary got for Lena. It's so adorable! Just had to show it off. I love the little poofy sleeves and the buttons on the pants. The outfit is so cute, it inspired Daddy to come up with "Lena's Blue Pants Dance." Cracks me up every time!

Lena's First Walk

Lena went on her first walk today. The weather was a little warmer and we decided to make the most of it. We walked on a paved trail that runs along the Thornapple River in Middleville. It is a really nice trail and it's not far from our house.

We feel very fortunate to have been called to Middleville. It is such a nice, pretty, small town. We love the small town atmosphere. During our walk, some church members honked to us as they passed in their car, and one man that Jim knows leaned out of his car window and chatted a bit as he waited for traffic to clear up.

Wow, we actually got a decent picture trying to take it ourselves! Good job, Dad!

Dad really likes to push the stroller! Lena seemed to enjoy being outside. At first she squinted a lot as she got used to the natural light. We had to have the cover up on her stroller because there was a brisk breeze, but she got some nice fresh air.
The wildlife is fun to watch on the river as we walk. There are geese and all kinds of birds. And Mill Pond on the other side of the trail has a whole community of beautiful white swans that hang out. They are so neat. Oh, and we saw a muskrat swimming in the river alongside us.
I have a feeling we'll be spending a lot of time on that trail this spring and summer.
