First Words!

We have officially heard Lena say her first words: "Hi kitty."  She said it the other day, but I thought it was a fluke. Well, she said it over and over again today, and she was always talking to one of the cats when she said it.  It was so cute.  She doesn't say "kitty" perfectly, but you can  definitely tell what she is saying.  It's so cool because ever since she was born, when one of the cats would come snuggle with us, I would say "Hi kitty" and show her how to pet the kitty nicely.  So awesome to know that she is actually paying attention!

Upon relaying this news, I was quickly reminded by my parents that my first word was "kitty" so I guess we know who Lena takes after!

What a month January has been.  Walking and talking!  Lena is growing up so fast and we're loving every second of it.  I can't wait to hear what else she has to say!

Walking Videos

First of all, happy eleven month birthday to Lena!  I am planning a birthday party for her.  It will be on her birthday, Saturday February 28 in the afternoon.  We will be sending out invitations with the details, but go ahead and mark your calendars.

Now, as requested, here are some videos of Lena walking.  I have been trying to get a good one since she first started walking (on the 14th), but it's been hard.  I can only do it during the day because at night it's too dark, even if I turn on every light in the house.  And she has a knack for "forgetting" how to walk the second the camera is pointed at her!  She walks clear across the living room now; she's really getting the hang of it.

The first video here is not of her walking, but it was so freaking cute I had to post it.  It's of her cracking up at me making faces at her.

The second one is one of her walking, but for some reason it turned out really dark.

The third one is of her walking towards the window with her Curious George book in her hand.  She's a little wobbly on that one; I think she was getting tired by that point!

I got some others of her chasing the kitties around; maybe I'll post those later.

Random Pics

Here are some random pictures from the last few days.

Lena was such a happy, smiley girl today.

Lena with her friend, Madelyn.  Lena had so much fun playing with Maddie's toys.  And the girls played together very nicely.  They are so cute together.

The cute hoodie sweater Aunt Hil got Lena.  I love that it's not pink!  Refreshing!

We have some major icicle action going on.  This one goes down almost to Jim's knee.

We bought a used snowblower on Saturday.  The thing is ancient, but hey, it works really well!  Jim loves it.  We've already had over 88 inches of snow this season and spring is light years away, so I'm sure we'll get good use out of it.  A shovel just doesn't cut it here!

Lena's walking!!

Lena just took her first steps!!  She has been walking while holding onto things for what seems like forever, but tonight she took two or three steps all by herself! It was so amazing to watch and I am so glad Jim and I were both here to see it. I'll try to get some video of it.

Bad Hair Day

So Lena's hair has been out of control lately!  It's like she has bedhead all of the time!  It must be the dry winter air.  It just has a mind of its own!  And forget trying to smooth it down.  It just bounces right back.

One of Lena's new toys.  She can either sit and ride on it or we can convert it to something she can stand up and push.

I just think this is so cute.  Lena is eating little bitty baby meals now.  This was her lunch the other day.  Some cereal (barley), peaches, cooked potato cubes (I can't get her to eat mashed), and the food by my thumb is actually yogurt.  Yeah, Lena is eating yogurt!  At her nine month appointment, her doctor told us to try giving her some dairy and see if she has a reaction.  She's been eating yogurt once a day for almost a week now and has no symptoms whatsoever that it is bothering her.  Yay!!  That means that she probably just had a lactose intolerance and that it's not a true dairy allergy.  We are still taking it slowly, but we are very encouraged by this.

Now we're just focusing on making it through this super cold week!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone!!

We spent a lazy day at home.  Aunt Hil was supposed to come up for a visit, but she wasn't feeling well so she postponed it.  The three of us just hung out and watched movies all day.  Daddy and Lena both took naps too.

Lena didn't really like this hat; she kept yanking it off and throwing it.

She was much more interested in playing with her Alphabet Pal.

:)

So the latest thing she is really into is playing inside the blanket rack.  She loves to climb on things and it's doubly fun because it sits right in front of the window.  She absolutely loves looking out the window at all the cars driving by.

The only problem is that sometimes she pulls the rack down.  It doesn't hurt her, it just makes her mad.

She also loves the cord to the blinds.  Don't worry; this is all supervised play.

When Daddy went upstairs to take a nap and Lena napped on Mama in the recliner.  She was so sleepy that her pacifier was falling out of her mouth and she didn't even notice.

Mommy loves her cuddly little girl!

I hope you all have a wonderful new year.
