May Pics

A few more pics from May:
My sweet girls are so affectionate with each other.  They cuddled up in the chair together, and Lena said, "Mama, look how cute we are! Take our picture!"

Eva still gives big ol' sloppy kisses right on the lips!

 Reading together.

School art project: The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Eva had a bit of a fever and didn't feel very good the first weekend in May.  It's pretty unusual for her to fall asleep on the couch like this.

 Zonked.

 Waiting for the thunderstorm.

 It's exciting!

School art project: a heart made out of foot prints.

More feet art.  Butterfly this time.

There were several days in May when it was warm enough to spend the afternoon swimming.

Eva spends a lot of time in the pool sitting on my lap, but she does enjoy playing some too.

Lena's favorite pool activities are splashing, jumping, and more splashing!

Waiting for our ice cream at the Cone Corral.

Our best garage sale find: a super cute bean bag for $1.

Looks like Eva prayed herself to sleep!

Enjoying some TCBY.

Our bird, Ruby, ventured out of her cage one day.  She walked all around the outside for a while, then all of a sudden, she took off and flew around the room for a while!  We had no idea she could actually fly.

Memorial Day 2012

Here are a few pics from Memorial Day.

Getting ready for the parade that goes by our house.

Happy girl.  She spent the morning playing with an empty Altoids container.

Checking out a bug.

I wanted a cute pic of the girls in their chairs, and believe it or not, this was the best one!

Waiting for the parade to start.

Here it comes!

Lena waved her flag at everyone.

The middle school marching band.

Glad there was still some candy left, even though we are near the end of the parade route.

They even had beauty queens!

Eva was on my lap, but she waved too.

It wouldn't be a Middleville parade without a few tractors.

Another chair picture attempt.  Eva's face is so red because it was really hot.

Perfect day to go swimming that afternoon.

We've been getting lots of Orioles at our oranges.

That evening, Jim noticed a turtle getting ready to cross the road right by our yard.  He didn't seem to notice/care that cars were whizzing by, so Jim ran out and grabbed him.  I know people say turtles are slow, but this little bugger was really bookin' it!  Jim had to run to catch up to him before he got smashed by a car!

Lena was already in her jammies, so he showed it to her through the window.

He carried the turtle to safety across the street.

Garden Time!

Last weekend we planted our garden.  It was really fun, as we hadn't done a garden the last two summers.

Before.

 After.

Tomatoes.  We planted three different varieties.

 Planting onions.

The onions: two rows of yellow, one of red, and one of white.

 Garden Helper #1.

 Garden Helper #2.

 Sweet potatoes.

 Planting rainbow chard.

Eva squirting herself in the face with the spray bottle.

 Daddy's little helpers.

Poking holes for the seeds to go into.

 Watering.

 The rainbow chard.

 Potatoes.  German Butterballs.

The next day we got some annuals for the front flower bed.

Before.

 After.

 Eva making a goofy face.

I planted some cilantro in a pot.

 More help for Daddy.

 Silly girls.

We can't wait to start harvesting vegetables from the garden!
