Lena's First Big Trip

Sorry it has taken me so long to post these pics. There is always so much to do when returning home from a long trip!

The first stop on our trip was the Fort Wayne area. We stopped in Auburn so Lena could meet her only uncle, Uncle Scott.

Then we went to Harlan and she got to meet her Great-Grandma Marian for the first time.

Here are four generations of Irvings. Great-Grandma Marian and Grandpa Brian.

We had dinner at Aunt Amy's house with the Zinks. Here are four Zink generations. Great-Grandpa Jim and Grandma Tammy.

Four Taylor generations. Great-Grandma Gloria and Grandma Tammy.

Then Lena got to meet Great-Great-Aunt Freida, Uncle Bill, and Cousin Jane. Here she is with Frieda.

Then we hit the road for Missouri. Lena was such a good girl and slept most of the time we were in the car. We installed a mirror so we could see what she was up to back there. I know this doesn't look comfortable, but we couldn't make her head stop doing that and it didn't seem to bother her too much.

All dressed up for her first party. This was a party for my grandparents. April 10th was their 60th wedding anniversary and May 23rd was Grandma's 80th birthday. This was Lena's first time wearing shoes. Notice the tongue sticking out. What a goof!
Lena meets Great-Grandma Doris for the first time.

Four Shadduck generations. Great-Grandma Doris and Grandma Sheryl. Interesting tidbit: All four of us were born in presidential election years. :)

Four Cornelius generations. Great-Grandpa Clyde and Grandma Sheryl.

My mom's family. Aunt Connie, Uncle Forrest, Uncle Gary, Uncle Denny, and Mom.

Lena loved the party, but it sure did wear her out! This is my Aunt Jan's lap she's on.

After the party, we headed back to Fort Wayne because we found out some friends of ours from Texas were passing through. We met them at the Seminary and went out to lunch. This is Paul, Erik, and Kathy Christensen. They are members of our vicarage congregation in Hamilton, Texas.
We really had a great trip. We travelled a total of 1800 miles in 6 days! Lena did so great! She didn't mind the car at all. In fact, as we were passing through Illinois on Sunday we ran into a hail storm. We had to pull over and the hail was coming down on us pretty hard. Lena never even woke up. Lucky for her, she's a heavy sleeper like her dad.
These weren't even all of the people Lena got to see on her trip. She also got to meet Jim's Aunt and Uncle Carol and Mark, and their sons Jon and Adam. And she got to meet Jim's cousin Lindsay and her husband Brian. Then she got to see Grandpa Lee at his office and meet our friends Bobbi and Cathy. She also met Pastor Steve, a bunch of friends in St. Louis (including a little buddy 5 weeks younger than her), and some more Corneliuses that I didn't get pics of.
Really fun trip but it's nice to be home now.
