Eva Cut Her Own Hair :(

Apparently it happens to every family at some point: a kid finds some scissors and decides to give him or herself a haircut.  I trimmed Lena's bangs on Sunday before church and left the scissors out on the bathroom counter.  After church, Eva went upstairs to change her clothes and found them.  She often gets sidetracked reading books when she goes up to her room for something, so I didn't think anything of the fact that she was up there for a long time.  Oops.  It could have been worse, and I'm also grateful that she did not hurt herself as those scissors are really sharp.  Here's the damage.

Super short "bangs" here in the front.  Yikes.

And some longer "face framing" pieces here on the side.

The best way to cover this mess up is for me to part her hair on the other side and secure it with barrettes.  I went to Target and stocked up on barrettes!  It's going to be a very long time until those "bangs" grow out.

Ugh.

Bowl-A-Thon

The girls participated in their school's first bowl-a-thon fundraiser.  It was fun because it was their first time ever bowling.  They were so excited!  Here are a few pics and videos.

Ready to start bowling!  They thought the shoes were pretty cool.

They bowled with classmates Artyom and Andrew.

 Pretty colorful bowling balls.

Eva had no idea how to launch the ball, so Mrs. Varvil helped her out.

For some reason, her method involved sitting down.  The funniest thing about Eva bowling was that she rolled the ball so incredibly slowly that it took FOREVER to get down to the end of the lane.  One of the first couple of times she did it, it actually went so slowly that it stopped and started rolling backwards!  It was hilarious.  Their lane was the last to finish (by about half an hour at least!) mostly from waiting around for Eva's ball to get to the end.  We also had a hard time keeping her there; everytime it was her turn, we had to go track her down again because she was wandering around.

Lena did a pretty good job throwing the ball.

Here are some short videos of the girls' bowling methods:

All the kids who participated.

Lena got a prize for participating and an extra prize because she got a spare!  Her score for two games was 151.  Not bad for her first time.

Eva's score for the two games was 103.

A huge thank you to all of our family members who made pledges.  We really appreciate your support of CLA!
