September Pics

Here are a few random pics from September.

Somebody is not using markers correctly.

She looks pretty proud of herself.

Showing off the matching outfits Aunt Amy got them.

 Going for a walk.

Seeing what there is to see on the river.

We saw a group of sandhill cranes.

 Pretty cool!

 Silly girls.

Indiana Trip: DeKalb County Fair

We spent another partial week in Indiana this month.  Jim taped an episode of Worship for Shut-Ins (which will air on December 9; check your local listings!), and Jim had a fall break from teaching school, so it worked out well.  It just so happened to be the week of the DeKalb County Fair, so most of these pics are from that.

Our first stop when we got into town (after dropping Jim off at the seminary), was to visit Grandma Sheryl at her office.

Then the girls and I headed over to our friends, The Dewey's.  They have two little girls just a few months younger than mine.  The girls had tons of fun playing together while I enjoyed some adult conversation with my friend Addie.

The next day we visited Great-Grandma Zink in her new place.  She auctioned off her house and acreage and moved into a cute little apartment.

 The girls with Great-Grandma Zink.

We stayed at Grandpa Brian's house.  He has a huge yard that the girls love to play in.

That evening we had dinner with Grandpa Lee and Grandma Sheryl.

And Hilary, Scott, Noah, and Kara.

 Eva with Aunt Hil.

 Eva loves Kara!

And loves to give her hugs.

Uncle Jim and a sweet sleeping Kara.

We got to go to the fair twice that week; once with Aunt Amy and Grammy Tammy, and the next day with Aunt Hil, Noah, Kara, and Grandma Sheryl.

This was the girls' first time to the fair and my first time since I was a teenager.  We played the mouse game. Didn't win, though.

The girls won prizes at the water shooting game.

Time for some rides!  The girls got started with the strawberry ride with Aunt Amy.

 Then they hit the train.

There was a little girl who was sitting by herself and crying, so we asked Lena to sit with her.

Lena got to go down the big slide with a girl related to Grammy Tammy.

 Having fun at the fair!

 Up next: The Happy Swing.

 Then the airplane ride.

Fuzzy picture, but I love Eva's face.

We ended the day with a carousel ride with Grammy Tammy.

 What a fun day!

The next day we went to the fair with Aunt Hil, Noah, Kara, and Grandma Sheryl.  We started off by watching the pet parade.

 Hilary's little snuggle bug.

Eva was all over Kara again.

The beginning of the parade.  This was Noah's first parade.

 He was excited.

The pet parade consisted mostly of dogs, but there were also horses, ponies, a pot-bellied pig, and a big white goose.

 Grabbing some candy.

Grammy Tammy and Aunt Amy helped with one of the floats.

It helps to have candy connections!

After the parade was over, we headed off toward the animal barns.  Here's Grandma walking with the big kids.

Another fuzzy one, but cute anyway.

 Noah liked the horses.

And of course, Lena wanted to pet each and every one.

 Daddy and Eva being silly.

Lena trying to feed the goats.

We saw all kinds of animals: horses, goats, sheep, rabbits, cows, chickens, turkeys, and pigs.  I will spare you pictures of all of those!

When we were done at the animal barns, Hilary thought Noah might like to ride the little train.  This was his first time on any kind of ride.

 He loved it!

My girls waving like beauty queens.

Noah and Uncle Jim waiting for the second go-around.

The second time around, the kids got to sit in the engine car.

They're so cute!

After all of the fun at the fair, we headed back to Hilary's to relax for a while.  Lena occupied herself by drawing pictures.

Kara entertained me.  She was just starting to coo and make cute little baby noises at me and threw me a few smiles that just melted my heart.  Of course, my girls wanted in on the Kara action, so they invaded.

Lena liked to brush her baby hair.

So of course, Eva had to do it too.

Hilary and the girls.

We had so much fun that week!
