March Pics

Here are a few random pics I took in March.

Painting ponies with Daddy.  (Daddy always sticks his tongue out when he's concentrating on something.)

They say that girls are having body image issues earlier and earlier these days, and they're not kidding!  One morning I found Eva stuffing her shirt with a bunch of Kleenex!

Lena insisted I take a picture of her and Eva wearing their matching shirts. I got Eva this shirt for Christmas, and then Lena got one for her birthday.

And now a few cell phone pics.

Eva wearing her bib in a "creative" way.

Another pic of the stuffed shirt.  She's proudly showing it off!

One day as we were leaving the house, we saw two goats running around on Fremont St. right by our house.  It was so weird!  It reminded us of our days in Texas.

At the end of March Lena spent a weekend in Indiana with Aunt Amy and Grammy Tammy.  She had LOADS of fun.  Aunt Amy took her to see "Disney on Ice" at the Coliseum.  Amy said Lena was "mesmerized".  These last three pics were taken by Amy and sent to me.

Showing off her mermaid wand.

Aunt Amy took her shopping at the outlet mall.

March Heat Wave

We had a record-smashing heat wave here in Michigan this month (you probably did wherever you are too!).  The temps soared to the upper 70s and into the upper 80s for eight days straight, breaking records seven of those days.  We took full advantage of the summer-like weather to get outside with the girls.  Here are some pics.

We tried out a new park in Caledonia and had a picnic there.  It was kind of overcast that day, but still nice and warm.  The girls loved exploring a new playground.

Eva wants to do everything Lena does, of course.

 "Come on, Eva! This way!"

This park actually has separate playground equipment for little kids and bigger kids.

 Taking a rest.

A flock of sandhill cranes flew overhead.  This park is neat because it's got a small lake on one side and a swampy area on the other side.

I took a few videos of the girls swinging.

On March 20, the first day of spring, it was hot enough to let the girls run through the sprinkler.  We couldn't pass up that opportunity!

Eva's not such a big fan of the sprinkler.

She had fun playing on the deck, though.

 Lena loved it, of course.

Their sunglasses are always missing one arm.

This would be a great pic if Eva's eyes were open!

Of course, they both have to go down at the same time.

 "Ooof!"

The next day was even hotter, but Lena didn't feel like doing the sprinkler again.

Lena and her bucket of dirt.

 Our forsythia bush bloomed.

 So did the hyacinth.

Taking a break.  You can tell how hot it is by seeing Eva's red face!

Not sure if she is whispering or kissing.

Lena riding her "horsey" with her "cowboy hat".

Eva wanted to wear the hat too.

The girls got to help Daddy fill up the bird feeders.

I know a lot of people thought it was too hot, but we really enjoyed the warm weather.  Can't wait for summer!

First Warm Days of Spring

I promised myself that I would take the girls down to the playground, which is just a few blocks away from our house, on the first day we reach 50 degrees.  Last Tuesday it was supposed to be 50, but ended up at over 60, so off we went.  I took a bunch of pics; it may seem like overkill, but it was just so refreshing to take pics of the girls doing something other than cuddling on the couch with a bunch of blankets!

Eva's preferred method of going down the slide.  At least on the first day.  She has gotten better at going down on her bottom now.

Love Lena's butt in the background!

It took Eva a while to get used to walking on the pea gravel.  She didn't care for it too much.

Lena, on the other hand, couldn't keep her hands out of it.

Lena is impatient.

Traffic jam on the slide!

Still working on the landing! :)

Finally got up the nerve to go down the big slide.

She wasn't heavy enough to make it all the way to the bottom.

Cute pic, but came out fuzzy. :)

Action shot!  This slide is slippery-er than the other ones and Eva kept landing on the ground.

The temperature was the same the next day, but it was overcast and really windy so it felt cooler.  But we went back to the park anyway.

Some stranger (a teenage girl) asked me if they were twins.  Huh?  They are completely different sizes and they look NOTHING alike! So, no.

My little monkey.

Lena on the great big slide.

Eva kept taking her jacket off.

Captain Lena.

This big square was supposed to be an ice skating rink.  But it never got cold enough to ice skate!

We are looking forward to many more hours spent at the playground this year.  Our backyard is small and pretty boring, so we are really glad we live so close to it.
