Random November Pics

I didn't take very many pictures in November. The girls both had yucky coughs during the first half of the month, and Jim was really sick with bronchitis all last week. Looks like it's going to be a long winter! Here are a few pics that I did take.

Jim decided to "trim" Lena's bangs. This was the result. No, I don't know what he was thinking. You can better understand how they ended up this way when you learn that he was holding a squirmy Eva in his other arm. Yep. I managed to even them out so they are all the same length, but they are a bit short (as you can see in the Thanksgiving pics below.) I told Lena that if she ever sees Daddy coming at her with scissors ever again, to run the other way!

Whenever I have stuff to do upstairs, I put Eva in the crib and turn on the mobile for her while Lena plays with her toys. Inevitably, I come back in the room to find them like this: Lena has climbed into the crib with Eva. It's really cute. Yesterday Lena brought a book with her and was reading to Eva.

Eva is squealing with delight.

Eva always wants to grab the book.

And now the photos of Eva sleeping.

I've started bringing the camera with me when I come upstairs to feed her in the mornings. She doesn't wake up when I turn the light on, and she's usually sleeping in some cute position. Here she is sleeping with her legs crossed. So ladylike!

Asleep in the highchair again. That book must be really boring!

Letting it all hang out on the dining room table.

Trying to learn to crawl is so exhausting!

She really is nowhere near crawling yet. She just really hates being on her stomach on the floor. She is sitting up for short periods though. And just a couple of days ago I heard the beginning sounds of babbling. So cute.

Hard to believe that 2010 is almost done. It's been quite a year. Next weekend we are again hosting our St. Nicholas Day Open House.

Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving this year. My parents, my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew all came up to our house. This year was special for more than one reason. It was the first time in 12 years that Hilary has spent Thanksgiving with us instead of going to Scott's family's Thanksgiving. It was so nice to spend this holiday with them! And it was also Eva and Noah's first Thanksgiving.

My Thanksgiving girls.

Lena loving on her little sister.

Cousin Noah arrives! Getting loved on by Lena.

Happy baby boy! What a cutie!

He found Lena quite interesting.

Eva fell asleep on Daddy while taking her bottle. (You can see the formula dribbled all over her chin.)

Noah telling Lena a secret.

The grandkids.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. So glad the weather cooperated and made travel easy. Thanks so much to Mom, Dad, Hilary, Scott, and Noah for coming up to spend the day with us!

Matching Jammies

We got the girls matching footie pajamas. So cute!

Lena's smile isn't real, but it's the only one we could get with her eyes open. She thinks it's fun to pretend to be asleep when I'm trying to take pictures.

Lena showing off the "pinekern" she found at the park yesterday and brought home. I think she calls it that because she thinks the word is "pinecorn" and she pronounces "corn" like "kern". I love it when she asks me if she can have some "popkerns."

Showing Eva her pinekern.

Lena loves to cuddle Eva.

Big sister kisses.

In other news, we found out last week that Eva is allergic to milk and peanuts. We discovered this when we tried to give her formula and she broke out in hives anywhere the formula touched her skin. So I am no longer breastfeeding her and she is on soy formula now. You may remember that Lena has dairy issues as well, but we are pretty sure that hers is just an intolerance instead of an allergy as she can have small amounts of dairy without problem. And she has never gotten hives; she just gets digestive problems from dairy.

So we are sad that Eva is allergic to dairy, but we are glad that we found out about it when we did. (And also glad that she disliked the dairy formula enough that she didn't actually swallow any.) The peanut allergy really surprised us, but the doctor called it a "mild" allergy so hopefully it won't be too big of a deal.

Five Months Old

Eva is five months old today. Here are some pictures of our little cutie.

Happy girl.

She's stunning in dark brown. ;)

Sitting up. She can do a few minutes at a time if she's not tired.

Action shot of her falling over.

Playing with her toys.

What a sweet face.
