We had a fun 4th of July. We went to a cookout at the same members' house that we went to last year. They live right across the street from the lake, so when it got dark we all walked across the street to watch the fireworks out over the lake. It makes for a very late night for the girls, but it's only once a year. Here are a few pics.
My little firecrackers. They both have their nails painted red, white, and blue.
Of course Lena had to wear her sparkly blue and white cowboy hat that Grammy Tammy and Aunt Amy got her.
Goofy pose.
Showing off their shirts. We tie-dyed these shirts just for the 4th. Eva's looks kind of pink in this pic, but it was actually red. She picked out the headband all by herself.
Lena helped make her own. We think the red part in the middle kind of looks like a heart.
The Brothers got out a tricycle and the girls loved riding it around while we waited for it to get dark.
The younger Mr. Brothers taught Lena how to whistle with a leaf.
We played the bean bag toss game.
We made up a little nature scavenger hunt to occupy Lena while we were waiting for it to get dark. Even though it wasn't on the list, she found this little slug. She gave it to Eva, who enjoyed carrying it around and showing it to everybody.
We took a walk over by the lake.
So pretty.
The Brothers gave them glow sticks to play with while we waited for the fireworks to start.
The fireworks were really awesome. Lena kept saying over and over "This is the best day of my life!" She loved them. After they were over, we walked back over to the Brothers' house and had homemade strawberry shortcake. Yum! We didn't get home until after 11:00. Lena was up at pretty much her normal time the next morning, but Eva slept until 10:15!
The other 4th-related thing we did that weekend was to make red, white, and blue pizzas for dinner.
