July 4th Weekend

Although we didn't do anything big and exciting, we had a really nice 4th of July weekend. Unfortunately we didn't get to see any fireworks yet again this year. All of the ones close to us do theirs on Saturday night, and with church the next morning, that's just too late to have the girls out (the fireworks don't start until ten or later around here!) But here are a few pics of how we did spend the holiday weekend.

On Friday evening we walked downtown to the gazebo to hear the music in the park. This week it was a choir and orchestra made up of German teenagers. They are really good. Our church had a cook-out and Vespers service in German for them the Wednesday before.

The proud big sister.

Eva enjoying the music and playing with Daddy.

So sweet!

Lena making Eva dance to the music. :)

Apparently Eva found the music very relaxing!

Getting a hug from Lena. Lena loves to hug and kiss Eva all day long. She just loves her!

The one split second that Lena was laying down instead of running around.

Dancing.

My beautiful blondie.

On Saturday we hung out at home and spent some time in the backyard. Here Eva is enjoying the view of the clouds and trees.

Lena playing in the sand.

Then Daddy broke out the bubbles!

We have a family-sized inflatable pool in the backyard. Lena absolutely loves to swim and will play in there for hours even if the water is freezing and her lips quiver the whole time! Fortunately, this weekend cold water wasn't an issue as we were over 90° degrees outside each day.

Doing a little pool dance.

She loves to stick her face in the water.

Picking up her dive toys.

Making ripples in the water.

Sunday morning after church. I had the girls all decked out in patriotic outfits.

Yeah, trying to get a picture of the both of them is very challenging!

Lena showing me that there is a butterfly on her shirt.

Tired girl.

Even Lena's hair was patriotic!

So even though Eva didn't actually swim (of course), I had to put her in this adorable little bathing suit I got for her and take a picture. It's just too cute!

Even though we didn't get to see any fireworks, we had a really nice weekend spending time together as a family. We hope you had a nice weekend too!
