We had a really fun Father's Day weekend. Here are a few pics.
Jim's dad got him a very nice Father's Day gift: this great ladder. We didn't have a ladder, and desperately needed one to clean out our gutters. Thanks so much, Brian!
This is the "before" picture. See the forest of tiny maple trees growing in our gutter?
Bye bye, gunk!
Darn maple trees!
Much better!
Jim also used the ladder to go up and fix a leak on our roof.
The Thinking Man, Roof Version.
On Friday morning, Lena and I went out and got Jim's Father's Day gift from us. I thought he would get more use out of them if he got them at the beginning of the weekend instead of on Sunday. He got two new Adirondack chairs, a pair of loppers, and a 6-pack of beer.
He didn't waste any time putting those loppers to work!
Those mulberry trees have been bothering him for a long time.
Friday night was the first concert at the Riverbank Music Series in Middleville.
A local political candidate handed out Tootsie Pops to the kids. Eva waits patiently for Daddy to unwrap hers. They were the chocolate kind, and after Lena first tasted it, she said, "Wow! It's made out of brownies!"
Eva spent the whole rest of the evening trying to finish this thing.
Lena loves to wear Daddy's hat.
And of course, Eva had to try it too.
Lena loved dancing to the music. She brought the "binoc-lee-ers" that Grandpa Brian got for her. The band that night was my favorite: the one that plays Beatles songs and other oldies.
Rolling down the hill is also great fun.
Whoops! Lost a shoe!
More dancing.
I snapped this picture of Lena, then realized later that I got something interesting in the background. There was a funny woman there that night, a hippie-ish woman dressed in a peace sign outfit who loudly complained that there was too much treble and did cartwheels in front of the stage.
See that guy in the blue shirt on the left? She actually kicked him in the head while doing a cartwheel. She was quite entertaining!
The funniest moment of the evening was when the band invited all of the kids to come dance in front of the stage. Lena went running right up there, and actually walked right up the steps to the stage and started dancing right next to the band members before they had even started playing! They very nicely escorted her off the stage. Yep, that's my kid!
I took a video of all the kids dancing. Hippie Lady was dancing right along with them, and while I didn't get video of it, she actually took the kids by the hands and swung them around so much that their feet lifted off the ground. The kids were lining up for this. It was a really fun night at the gazebo.
On Saturday, we just hung out at home and spent most of the day outside. Eva is really enjoying the chair she got for her birthday.
She's getting really good at smiling for the camera.
Lena would spend every minute of every day in the pool if she could.
Sunday afternoon. Jim enjoying his new chair. He likes the fact that it doesn't have any moving parts, and therefore, is less likely to "have problems." :)
I took over the grill that evening and we had a lovely dinner of grilled breaded chicken thighs, foil pack potatoes, and salads.
After dinner, Jim and the girls invented a new game, Skimmer Ball.
Happy Father's Day!
