Mother's Day Weekend

We had an awesome weekend! Grandma Sheryl and Aunt Hil came up to visit. On Friday night we had a yummy taco bar for dinner and played a game while drinking margaritas. :) Then on Saturday we went to Holland for the Tulip Time Festival. The weather was not even close to ideal, but we decided to go anyway. It was raining when we got there so we decided to have lunch first. We ate at the Alpen Rose Restaurant on 8th Street.  By the time we were done, the rain had stopped and the sun started to peak out a bit.  We walked along 8th Street and chose a spot for watching the parade.  The parade was the grand finale of the festival.  It had like 30 marching bands and lots of other floats with people dressed up in the traditional Dutch wardrobes.  It was a fun parade and Lena just loved the music!  Every time a band would go by, she would get all excited and do funny little dance moves.  A couple of times when she was sitting on Daddy's shoulders, she slapped her hands on Daddy's head like it was a drum!  So funny!  I took some videos and will post them later.

After the parade we walked around Centennial Park a little bit and took some pics with the tulips.  The tulips aren't quite as pretty as they were last year, but we still saw some good ones.  We also drove along the streets that are lined with tulips on either side.

That evening we came back home, had dinner, and spent most of the evening playing with a Spirotot!  We had them as kids and I recently bought one at a garage sale.  Hilary got it out and we had fun playing with it.  She made the best designs; mine were pretty bad!

Mom and Hilary went to church with us this morning before heading back home.  We took some cute pictures there.

Lena and Daddy waiting for our table at the Alpen Rose.

She and Aunt Hil got lots of play time in this weekend.

Watching the parade.

One of the floats.  This was the 80th year for the Tulip Time Festival.

Lena loved to wave back at the people who were waving from their float.

Lena and Mommy.

Checking out the tulips.  The sun is deceiving here.  It was in the mid-50s yesterday.

Looking at the pretty water fountain.

She liked the pretty pink ones.

Today at church.  She really liked my corsage!

Lena, Mama, Grandma Sheryl, and Aunt Hil. (I wish someone would have told me that Lena's dress was hiked up!)

Mom and her girls.

Lena's cute outfit.  I got her a bunch of adorable summer dresses on clearance last week.  Can't believe they had summer dresses on clearance right now!  Awesome!

Running towards Rebecca who had climbed the tree.  She has so much fun with the girls at church.

A great pic of Lena and Grandma.

"Here, Grandma, let me "fix" your corsage!"

Aunt Hil helped me out a lot this morning by watching Lena while I prepared the fellowship treats.

After Mom and Hil left, the three of us went to Grand Rapids and had a nice lunch and TCBY (they were offering free cups or cones for moms today).  Then we headed back home and took a lovely Sunday afternoon nap.  What a great day!

Thanks so much, Mom and Hil, for coming up to visit us this weekend.  We loved spending time with you this Mother's Day.  And we're looking forward to seeing you again next weekend!  Yay!

Happy Mother's Day!
